The UAE Traveller's Packing Checklist: Tech, Organisation & Personal Care

Whether you are flying out for a long weekend or a month abroad, a little planning saves a lot of stress at the airport. Here is a simple packing checklist built around what UAE travellers actually need.

1. Charge everything, carry it right

Power bank: Always pack it in your cabin bag, never in checked luggage. Most airlines limit capacity to 100Wh, and some restrict using it on board, so check your airline's rules before you fly.
Fast charger and cables: One multi-port charger can replace three separate ones. Pack a spare cable, because they are the first thing to go missing.
Travel adapter: The UAE uses the UK-style three-pin plug (Type G). Many countries use something different, so a universal adapter is worth having.

2. Keep your bag organised

Packing cubes and small pouches keep clothes, cables, and toiletries separated, so you are not digging through your bag at security. Keep a small pouch of essentials (passport, cards, earphones, charger) at the top of your cabin bag.

3. Pack a mini personal care kit

Cabin air is dry, and long flights are tough on skin and lips. Bring a small moisturiser, lip balm, and hand cream. Most airports still apply a 100ml limit to liquids in cabin bags, so decant into travel-size bottles and check your airport's current rules.

4. Protect your valuables

Keep jewellery in a small padded pouch in your cabin bag rather than checked luggage.
Wear less, carry less. Simple pieces are easier to keep track of.
Take a photo of your passport and important documents and save it on your phone.
